Sunset

21 Jun 2008 In: raves

Who doesn’t love to take in a beautiful sunset?

This is a recent one - Moreton Island
Just off the coast from Brisbane, Queensland - Australia
You can just make out the silhouettes of the Glasshouse Mountains.
Champagne and birthday wishes thrown in to memorize the event…
Gorgious!

Any Way The Wind Blows

28 Apr 2008 In: raves

Lately I’ve been listening to the motion picture soundtrack
from Tom Barman’s “Any Way The Wind Blows” a lot.

This has to be my absolute, favourite compilation / movie soundtrack!
Just check out the track listing below…

It reminds me of hot Summer days… in Antwerp.
Ah,… good times.

The days of the Pacific Club
Where everyone was welcome to enjoy great music and
“get down”.
Where you could stand so close to the stage,
you could stare up Sheryl Crow’s… nostrils
and feel Jeff Buckley’s sighing breath.
The time when deus gave birth to it’s first 4-track
CD, Zea

Yeah,… that sure brings a smile to my face.

Check it out!
(Oh, and the movie is worth checking out too ;-)

Birthdays

21 Mar 2008 In: raves

I love birthdays.

They’re the perfect day to be totally selfish.
Take the day off and indulge in what you love.
Whether it’s shopping, eating, sharing, daydreaming…
or cleaning.
It doesn’t matter.

It’s YOUR DAY!

Have your cake and eat it.

Homesick

8 Feb 2008 In: random

Living on the other side of the world from my family
and friends can be tough. And I have regularly felt very homesick
these last months, missing those I left behind…

But,… this month has something special in store.
My little sis is hopping over for a working holiday down under,
and I can’t wait to see her again!

We take each other’s presence for granted.
We all live such busy lives… ya-da, ya-da.
But when someone you care about is no longer just a drive away,
but a 24-hour, expensive flight; you suddenly feel that great distance,
and realize how wonderful it is to have your family “around”.

Elders

“Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

I used to “granny sit” while I was at school. This meant I had to keep an elderly lady company in the evenings, prep her dinner, help her get around her apartment and to and from the bathroom (yes, that too), and sometimes stay over at night. Be on stand-by… just in case.
This little lady had led a fascinating life… She was on of the few people to have survived the holocaust of the second world war and had traveled extensively. I loved to hear her stories (even though she tended to repeat the same ones over and over ;-) But gosh, what a treasure she was. So many amazing experiences and wise words to share…

Have a look at this:

Olive Riley from Woy Woy is 108 years old,…
or should I say young?
She is the world’s oldest blogger.
She is still so full of life and so cheeky ;-)
Love it!

After his doctor advised him to exercise in 2002,
Allan decided to take up walking. He plans to walk all
the streets in Sydney… and he’s well on his way to
succeed!
I especially love the “Surprises” section.
Who said old folks are grumpy?
